4. Why should I learn Japanese language?
investments happening between the two great nations. Besides Japan has one of the highest number of demand of skilled and semi-skilled
professionals in the world. With a negative population growth there is a huge demand for professionals that they cannot fill from among
themselves. This is a huge opportunity for Indians. However since Japanese inherently stick to their own language the only way a person
can become part of such a huge opportunity is by learning Japanese. Once you learn Japanese and you have any skill chances are that you will
be able to land a well-paying job and a residential status in Japan. Japan is also a great place for doing business and Japanese are looking
for Indian partners and associates but language comes into picture. Hence professionals, business persons, consultants, teachers, traders,
exporters and importers who have Japanese skills would be much higher success rate than anyone else when it comes to Japan. Japanese are also
investing extremely heavily in India. An entire Japanese corridor has been created between Manesar and Jaipur. These huge investments need huge
number of professionals from India. This would mean communication gap. This has spurred demands for Language experts with “Japanese – English”
or “Japanese – Indian Language” combination skills. Japanese language expertize also helps you get better points while applying for immigration or
Permanent residence status in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada and some European countries as they too need persons with Japanese
skills to work with Japanese companies or to interact with them.
5. What is JLPT?
JLPT stands for Japanese Language Proficiency Test. This is a language test organized by the government of Japan.
This is organized by them around the world twice a year and they do this as they want to create a benchmark of Japanese Language skills.
Their skills start from N5(Basic) to N1(most advanced). JLPT was created since Japan wants language professionals but also wants to ensure
that the participants clear certain benchmarks. The JLPT exams are conducted on the first Sunday of July and December every single year.
6. Why is JLPT important?
JLPT being a benchmark it gives credible attestation to the Language Skills of a person. This JLPT benchmark is recognizable across
the world. This increases chance of employment and also creates confidence in the eyes of the hiring agencies about your Japanese Language
skills. While N5 is the most basic. N4 onwards, skilled professionals start getting job offers. After N3 higher end jobs are available.
Even within Japan in most organizations even Japanese people have to take JLTP N2 and N1 before they can be promoted. I guess if you already
have those levels here in India, then only sky is the limit for you.
7. What are the opportunities in Japan?
With the liberalization of Japan immigration and work permits clubbed with the visa policies the various opportunities in Japan have exploded.
You could work there. The pay scales for even semi-skilled professionals is one of the highest in the world. The work force needed in Japan is
at every single level and in case you know Japanese you are needed. Its as simple as that. You could study there. Japan has one of the best
universities in the world and they are relatively cheaper compared to the over-priced hyped up universities of US and Europe. They have one of
the best teachers but they mostly prefer to teach in Japanese language hence if you knew Japanese language you could get admissions in one of
the best universities in the world. You could start a business with a Japanese counterpart. If you are professional or a business you could reach
out to several business and innovations and the Japanese market if you have Japanese skills. Japanese would feel much more comfortable to work
with you. You could represent Japanese business in India. If you knew Japanese language you could work with them to expand their operations and
business interests here in India. You could be a “Business Interpreter”, “Hospitality professional” and just about anything to reap the
opportunities thrown up by Japan.
8. Is there any opportunities in India for Japanese Language Professionals?
With billions of USD worth of investments being done in India by Japan there is an acute need of skilled and semi-skilled professionals with
Japanese language skills needed all the Japanese industries and factories and organizations instituted here in India. In the near future the need
for Japanese language professionals will keep on growing.
9. Is there any opportunity in any other country (other than Japan) once I learn Japanse Language?
Someone known to me in Chandigarh recently moved to Canada. He got better scoring for immigration because of his JLPT credentials
(Japanese Language Credentials) and not only that, he got a job within two months of being there as several companies over there needed
professionals with “Foreign Language” skills. This is the same for Australia and New Zealand as well and it’s a very big deal if you know
Japanese and work in US.
10. What are the opportunities if I only learn Japanse language without any other formal qualifications?
Learning just the Japanese language without any other qualification or professional skills is also a very feasible option.
However if you do not want to acquire any other professional skill than its best that you develop your JLPT skills all the way to JLPT 2
(as good as a Japanese National) this will ensure that you get top Interpreter and business language translation jobs. I know of some highly
skilled Japanese language professionals (who are only graduates) running their own companies which specialize in interpreting “Business Documents”
from English to Japanese and vice versa.
11. I am going to Japan for touring purposes how would this help me?
LingoNihongo is the only language institute that provides this kind of short term trainings and understands the importance of basic language
and cultural skills while going on a tour to Japan. Of all the countries in the world I found Japan to be most friendly and amazingly hospitable
country. However many others had a different experience. This was because I have language skills and more than that I have full understanding of
their Cultural domain. They appear to be a bit “reserved” but if you showed the same cultural values they open up to you as if you were their best
friends. The country is a travellers paradise but not knowing even basic words and cultural awareness would result in highly reduced tour
experience. When I share my tour experiences of Japan I get a lot of questions from others who have been there more than me “How could you have
done so many things?”, “How did you come to know about that?”, “How could you get so many benefits?” and so on. We have a small course only for
tourists planning to go to Japan.
12. I keep going to Japan for short business trips how would this help me?
Japanese are very formal at business and there are some words and cultural things that one must display to allow them to warm up to you for
business deals. Most of Indians tend to follow the “Blunt” American way of business discussions and meetings which do not yield as much benefits.
There are some serious intricacies relating to doing business with Japanese companies and people. There are some cultural awareness that raises
trust factor among them and hence better deals and better and longer understandings. LingoNihongo is the only language institute that provides
such a session and awareness. The cultural expert has lived and worked in Japan and still does consulting work in Japan with some of the top
automotive and consulting companies in Japan.
13. After which level of JLPT can I start looking for a Job in Japan?
If you are a Highly skilled professional (experience Engineer, IT Expert, Automotive Expert, Financial Expert, Banking Expert, English
Teacher, Professor etc) you need just JLPT level N4 to start looking out for high paying jobs in Japan. However if you are Semi-Skilled
professional (Deploma holder) with some experience you could start looking or a job after JLPT level N3.
14. I have a school going child, how can Japanese language help my child?
The best time to teach anyone a new language is when they are children. Their associative and language muscle memory is very high
thus allowing them to learn language as if they were learning their own mother tongue. Japanese is the best foreign language to learn.
German is the second best. French is absolutely useless as there is absolutely no use of it and not used anywhere other than some troubled
countries and France itself. The racism and lack of opportunities in France does not offer attractive work or business options. Chinese is
becoming useless for Indians as the Chinese are fast learning English and Japanese as they want to explore the Japanese opportunity. Trade
between India and Japan would continue to be troubled because of the relations between the two countries. Hence with trillions of USD worth
of investment between India and Japan and with absolutely negative population growth in Japan, Japanese language could provide Indian professionals
one of the most powerful leverages. Now imagine if your child grew up learning and mastering this language, they could study in Japan, take up
jobs in Japan, and have direct international placements because of their command over Japanese language and so on.
